Hosted in Wellington New Zealand by plain language consultancy Write, Clarity focused on plain language for law, business and government. The conference included compelling keynote speakers along with interactive workshops, case-study presentations, panel discussions, mentoring appointments and ‘speed-learning’ events.

ICClear|Clarity – Belgium

Jointly hosted by Clarity and IC Clear, an international consortium for clear communication funded by the European Union. Our conference showcased the work of clear communication professionals from around the world, with a special focus on developments in Europe. The conference was held in Antwerp and at the European Union in Brussels, giving delegates a unique opportunity to learn about clear communication in a multilingual environment.

Clarity – Washington, DC

Jointly hosted by Clarity and the US Center for Plain Language. Clarity offered delegates a fascinating insight into the introduction of the US Plain Writing Act.

Clarity – Lisbon

Clarity was presented in partnership with Português Claro. It showcased work from 22 countries – including case studies, master classes, and seminars – to improve communication with members of the public.

Clarity – Mexico City

Co-hosted by Clarity, the Mexican Ministry of Public Administration and the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México. The theme of Clarity was Legal Language: Transparent and Efficient’, reflecting the Mexican Government’s efforts to promote the use of plain language as a route to becoming more transparent, efficient, and closer to citizens’ needs. It was the first Clarity conference held in a Spanish-speaking country, with speakers from Argentina, Chile, Mexico, and Peru as well as Europe and America.

Clarity – Boulogne

Held at the Université du Littoral Côte d’Opale in Boulogne, France. Clarity explored the theme ‘Clarity and Obscurity in Legal Language’, with a feature presentation by Clarity founder John Walton and a series of masterclasses with legal drafting experts.
