Joe Kimble writes:

Robert is a giant in our field, and we have all learned so much from him - not only from hearing him speak but also from his book “Writing in Plain English,” his work on the monumental “Plain English and the Law” (published by the Law Reform Commission of Victoria), and his many other writings. He and Peter Butt cofounded the Center for Plain Legal Language at the University of Sydney, which had a considerable influence in Australia. For many years, he was a consultant at the Mallesons law firm. Many of you know that he and Peter won an award from PLAIN at its conference last year in Australia. And he has always been a warm and generous colleague. He may have retired from the Committee, but he’s still with us.
